Plays
Circo di Dietro
Circo is directed by ex-Dogtroep employee Septimia Kuhlmann. Based on a few workshop days, Septimia, together with the Maatwerk actors, wrote a play in which we see a circus from behind the scenes.
The circus master falls down from the top of the tent and, as a result, almost immediately leaves the stage. His inconsiderate wife who also has a perverted exercise of power, is the first to take over his business. With her freshly gained power she assumes she can push things much further than strictly necessary.
For a long time she has been in love with "The strong man" and finally she sees her change. She must, and will, gain power over him. He, however, is much more charmed by the dancers and that feeling is mutual... He is almost seduced by the bribes of the eager woman.
As if he had been sent for, the circus master wakes up from his comatose state and, to the revelry of almost the entire group, puts a stop to it.
